(Marshall County, IA) - The Marshall County Attorney rules that law enforcement was legally justified in hitting a suspect with a car.

According to the Marshalltown Police Department, officers responded to a man they believed had been involved in an assault on July 4th. 22-year-old Zannah Towah reportedly walked away from officers, then turned toward an officer in a marked patrol vehicle and displayed a handgun. In response, law enforcement hit him with their vehicle.

Marshall County Attorney Jordan Gaffney says that the officers actions were legally justified under Iowa law. Towah was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Towah is facing several charges including assault and domestic abuse assault.
