Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins' arrest was in relation to a "delayed battery" report, which police responded to and "determined a battery had occurred," Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations Unit Sgt. David Soika confirmed to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi on Sunday (July 13).

"From Sergeant David Soika with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations Unit: 'On July 12th, at approximately 9 a.m., Fort Lauderdale Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Cypress Creek Road in reference to a delayed battery. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim. During their preliminary investigation it was determined a battery had occurred. The officers made contact with the suspect and placed him into custody. He was transported to Broward County Main Jail. The suspect has been identified as Quinshon Judkins, DOB 10/29/2003 and has been charged with Misdemeanor Battery (Domestic) FSS 784.03-1a1,'" Oyefusi shared on his X account.

A police report obtained by TMZ Sports states that Judkins, 21, punched a woman in the mouth during an argument inside a car. The woman, who said she was in a romantic relationship with the running back, said they landed at Fort Lauderdale International Airport and returned to an upset Judkins after returning from the bathroom.

Judkins allegedly told the woman "I'm so done with you" and "Oh wow, I can't believe you" but she claimed to be unaware of what he was referring to. The woman said Judkins revealed that he was frustrated over texts he received from family members once they were inside a Lamborghini SUV rental, which she tried to explain were out of context.

The woman claims Judkins struck her in the mouth/chin area with a closed fist, which resulted in bruising, as she tried to speak to him.

Judkins, who is less than seven months removed from winning the College Football Playoff National Championship Game with Ohio State and less than three months removed from being selected in the second-round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was charged in Broward County for what was described as "touch or strike/battery/domestic violence," according to online arrest records. A spokesperson for the Browns confirmed that the team was "aware and gathering" information on Judkins' arrest in a response to the Akron Beacon Journal's Chris Easterling.

Judkins was expected to be Cleveland's primary running back during his rookie season following the departure of veteran Nick Chubb, who signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Houston Texans in June. Browns assistant general manager Catherine Hickman said Judkins had a similar style to Chubb after the team's draft selection in April.

“His physicality, his contact balance, the way he runs with strength is something I’ve seen in Nick [Chubb] as an example and those are things, and I’m not saying that this is Nick, Nick is just again, what Nick means to this organization is beyond words,” Hickman said via Cleveland.com. “But what I’m saying here is this style of play is just going to fit very nicely with what we’re trying to do.”

Judkins, who spent his first two collegiate seasons at Ole Miss, recorded 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns on 194 rushing attempts, as well as 22 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns, in 16 games at Ohio State in 2024. Cleveland also selected former Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson in the fourth-round of this year's draft.
