Przemysław Jeziorski, a 43-year-old associate professor of marketing at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business, was tragically shot and killed on July 4 in a suburb of Athens, Greece. Jeziorski, known to many as "Przemek" or "PJ," was in Greece to attend a custody hearing and visit his children.
As Jeziorski approached his ex-wife's residence, a masked gunman shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot. No arrests have been made, and the perpetrator remains at large. Jeziorski's family described the incident as a "terrible crime" and are seeking justice for his untimely death.
Jeziorski was a beloved member of the Haas School of Business faculty for eight years, specializing in marketing science, industrial organization, and data analytics. He was known for his passion for teaching and his dedication to his students. His brother, Łukasz Jeziorski, expressed the family's heartbreak and their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
Friends and colleagues remember Jeziorski as a brilliant academic and devoted father. His close friend, Chemtai Mungo, shared her grief, telling KTVU, "He loved his kids and liked to spend as much time with them." Jeziorski's death follows the recent passing of his father in Poland, compounding the family's sorrow.
The Haas School of Business community is mourning the loss, with Dean Jennifer Chatman expressing her heartbreak over Jeziorski's tragic and sudden death. The university plans to organize a tribute later this summer, once the fall semester begins.
