(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- An Iowa-based electric utility is planning to add enough wind energy to potentially power 350,000 Iowa homes.
Alliant Energy is filing an application with the Iowa Utilities Commission to add 1,000 megawatts to its existing 1,800 megawatts of power generated by wind turbines between 2028 and 2030.
The company says that would increase the number of homes they power without burning fossil fuels to nearly one-million.
Around 350 wind turbines would be added at multiple locations across the state at a cost of around $3 billion dollars.
