(Iowa) -- A new national survey ranks Iowa among the least prepared states to adapt to artificial intelligence.
National tech website Brainly studied all 50 states and Washington, D.C., looking at factors such as the share of businesses that use AI, AI-intensive jobs per capita, AI-related degrees per capita, and more. Iowa ranked as the 11th least prepared state for AI development, ranking particularly low on federal funding for small businesses to pursue new technologies, as well as the number of businesses per capita that use AI. Iowa scored highest on its computer science programs in high schools statewide.
Overall, Washington, D.C. came in at the top of the list as the most prepared part of the country for AI development. Alaska ranked at the bottom of the list.
