(Davenport, IA) -- The owner of several Iowa newspapers is agreeing to pay subscribers 9.5-million dollars to settle a privacy lawsuit.

Lee Enterprises, which also owns the Quad City Times, Muscatine Journal, Sioux City Journal, and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier is also being sued by three former employees.

They allege the company was negligent in protecting the personal information of customers and employees from a February data breach.

At one point the breach prevented some of the papers from publishing.
