(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Water in the Corridor is safe to rink despite recent spikes in nitrate levels in the state's rivers and streams.

The Gazette reports that Cedar Rapids city staff say nitrate levels in the Cedar River have also spiked, but remain just below EPA levels for concern.

In Iowa City, levels in the Iowa River are above EPA recommended levels, but below in the drinking water.

Des Moines recently banned lawn watering so the city's filtration system can keep up with record nitrate levels in the Racoon River.
