(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A man from Oregon facing first-degree murder charges in a 42 year-old eastern Iowa cold case now has a court-appointed lawyer.
A date hasn't yet been set for the next court appearance for 64 year-old Michael Schappert.
He's accused of killing a 24 year-old man on Christmas eve morning of 1983 in Linn County during what police say was a botched drug robbery.
Police believe another person was involved and are continuing to investigate.
