(Iowa City, IA) -- University of Iowa Athletics will soon be able to pay student-athletes directly through a new revenue-sharing program.

The university announced that the Flight Fund is a new charity-based initiative that allows donors to contribute to student-athlete revenue sharing. If the university uses a student’s name, image, or likeness, they can now be compensated directly through the program.

There will be specific funds for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and wrestling, as well as a general sports fund.

The program is set to launch on July 1.
