Drought Conditions In Iowa Expand With Below-Average Rainfall in May

(Des Moines, IA) -- Drought and abnormally dry conditions are expanding throughout Iowa, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

Statewide, Iowa saw an average of 2.8 inches of rain in May. That’s over 2 inches below normal. More than 80 percent of Iowa continues to experience abnormally dry or drought conditions, according to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor.
