Google is planning to invest $7 billion in Iowa with the announcement Friday of a new data center in Cedar Rapids, and plans expand its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Council Bluffs.

The 576-million dollar data center in Cedar Rapids is already under construction in the Big Cedar Industrial Center on the city's Southwest side.

Google has been in Iowa since 2007, investing $6.8 billion in the state since launching the data center in Council Bluffs.
