(Aurelia, IA) -- An Iowa State Senator is forming an exploratory committee as he considers a run for western Iowa’s 4th Congressional District seat.
“We’re looking at what I’m going to call a ‘Thirty-Eight Blitz.’ I’ll be out in the 4th Senate District—my own district—and surrounding areas, listening to voters, hearing from constituents, and presenting myself as the best candidate. I believe I’m the best candidate, but I want to hear that from them,” said Republican State Senator Lynn Evans.
Forming an exploratory committee allows Evans to raise funds privately and delays the requirement to report to the Federal Election Commission until he officially enters the race. These committees give potential candidates a chance to test the waters before committing to a full campaign.
“People within my own district know me very well, but those outside the area may not be as familiar with me. This gives me an opportunity to attend events, listen to concerns, and understand what voters are looking for in a candidate,” Evans added.
His announcement comes shortly after current 4th District Representative Randy Feenstra formed an exploratory committee to consider a run for governor.
