(Linn County, IA) -- Linn County residents are voicing their concerns over the planned restart of a local nuclear power plant.

A request has been filed with the federal government to restart the Duane Arnold nuclear reactor in Palo which was shutdown after the 2020 Derecho.

At a Linn County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting last night, some residents showed support for the move citing it as clean energy.

Others had concerns about the waste that would be stored onsite.

The Commission will hold more hearings then make a zoning recommendation to the Board of Supervisors next month.
