(Des Moines, IA) -- The 2025 Iowa Legislative session has come to a close after a marathon finish overnight Wednesday and into Thursday.
Governor Reynolds has signed legislation restricting cell phone use in classrooms and while driving. Lawmakers also removed gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. Meanwhile, bills to pause new casino licenses and revamp the state's property tax system failed to pass. After an initial stalemate on the state budget for next year, legislators agreed to spend $9.4 billion.
The Governor now has 30 days to take action on any remaining proposals.
