(Des Moines, IA) -- There's currently $56 million of unused money in Iowa's Opioid Settlement Fund. That could soon be distributed under a bill headed to Governor Kim Reynolds' desk with bipartisan support.

"I don't wish the feeling on anyone of waking up every day wondering if it's going to be the day you find out your child has died of an overdose and then trying to figure out how you would explain that to your grandchild. We hold in our palms the power to change that reality for many Iowans," said Democratic Iowa Senate Minority Leader Janice Weiner.

Twenty-nine million dollars will be given to 11 organizations across the state. The rest will be split between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Attorney General's office.
