(Des Moines, IA) -- A bill reforming how pharmaceutical benefit managers (PBMs) operate is crossing the finish line in the state legislature.
"By sending this bill to the Governor, Iowa will take a huge step to catch back up with states across the country who have taken a leading role in reforming a broken system by reining in abusive PBM practices," said Republican State Representative Brett Barker.
Senate File 383 would require PBMs to reimburse pharmacies based on national average drug acquisition costs and include a dispensing fee. It passed the House with bipartisan support and now heads to Governor Kim Reynolds' desk for consideration.
