(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Supreme Court will allow the state to require voting materials to be published in English only.

In 2021, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) sued over a 2002 law and a 2008 injunction that prevents the state from publishing voting materials in any other language. A Polk County district court previously sided with LULAC and blocked a portion of that law in 2023. The Iowa Supreme Court overturned that ruling on May 9, 2025, stating that organizations can't challenge the law without showing direct injury to their legal rights.
