(Iowa) - President Donald Trump has nominated Leif Olson as the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa.

The district has not had a permanent U.S. Attorney since Pete Deegan stepped down in 2021. Since then, Timothy Duax has served as acting U.S. Attorney. Olson, who currently serves as Chief Deputy Attorney General of Iowa, has 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer. His nomination has been sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee for consideration, and he must be confirmed by the full Senate before taking office.
