(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A local developer is looking to rezone a Wellington Heights property for use as a grocery store.

The Cedar Rapids neighborhood was left without any grocery options after HyVee closed their store on First Avenue Northeast last summer.

The new grocery store would be in a residential property on Fifth Avenue Southeast, about ten blocks from the former HyVee store.

The building operated as a grocery store in the mid twentieth-century.

Cedar Rapids City Council will vote on the rezoning later this month.
