(Iowa City, IA) -- The University of Iowa International Writing Program receives $250,000 dollar donation after funding cuts.

The quarter-million-dollar donation, made by Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr., comes after the U.S. Department of State cut the program's grant funding in February, claiming that the program no longer aligned with national interest. The lack of funding caused the program to reduce fall residency and programs. The Florida lawyer has a history of donating to arts and community organizations across the country.
