A recall on apple juice distributed in Iowa is being upgraded.

The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall for some Martinelli's apple juice products in mid-March, but is now upgrading it to a class two recall. That means consuming the product could cause temporary, medically reversible health issues.

The FDA says patulin was detected in Martinelli apple juice. The compound is found in several kinds of mold, including in rotting apples. It can cause gastrointestinal issues like nausea and stomachaches when consumed.

Affected products were sold in 28 states, including Iowa and Illinois.

More information about products that could be contaminated is available here.
