Hundreds Of Millions Of Birds Migrating North Through Iowa This Weekend

Hundreds of millions of birds will migrate north this weekend.

The Birdcast NexRad radar forecast shows more than 200-million birds will migrate, with the largest number flying up the Missouri and Mississippi River valleys.

The entire state of Iowa will have the heaviest flight path on Saturday.

The birds fly at night starting about three hours after sunset. They'll stop to sleep and eat the next morning wherever they are along the route, including backyards.

On Sunday another 300-million birds will migrate north, with the heaviest flight path stretching from Eastern Nebraska, through Iowa and Illinois, and into Minnesota and Wisconsin.
