(Iowa City, IA) -- Iowa City property owners will see a drop in school taxes next year.

The Iowa City Community School District is approving a budget with a 40-million dollar decrease in spending.

The Board says the decrease from last year's $319 million was made possible by now-completed building projects and record enrollment revenue.

District leaders say the proposed property tax rate levy is dropping by 72-cents per $1,000 of taxable value.
