(Des Moines, IA) -- An Iowa non-profit is marking Earth Day with a pivot from the closure of a litter hotline.
Keep Iowa Beautiful has been trying to do just that for 25 years.
At the end of December they shuttered the hotline residents could use to report polluters who would then receive a letter from the organization.
Organizers say they just weren't getting enough calls to keep the line open.
They've redirected those funds to a new statewide program that organizes groups to volunteer to pick up litter from parks, and roadsides.
