Iowa Housing Market Sees Rising Inventory, Faster Sales

(Iowa) -- The Iowa housing market is picking up this spring.

Iowa REALTORS says new listings of single-family homes increased about 37.9% in March compared to February. The median sales price also increased 6.2% from March of last year to $239,000. Homes sold quickly in March, with an average of 12 days on the market, down from 22 days in February.

Regionally, the Des Moines area, the median sales price of a single family home held largely steady at $314,000. Homes sold fastest in Cedar Rapids in March, with an average of six days on the market. The median sales price in the Quad Cities area is among the lowest in the state at $174 thousand dollars.
