(Johnson County, IA) -- Johnson County is reassuring residents concerned about property tax increases.
State law requires notices be sent to property owners with an estimate of their taxes for the coming year.
Some Johnson County taxpayers got notices off a 17% increase, but county staff say that's based on a 10% rise in assessment.
Most assessment in Johnson County rose just 0.4 to 1.2%, so the real increase is actually between 5.4 and 7.1%
