(Iowa City, IA) -- Investigators say they believe they've identified the cause of several fires at the Iowa City landfill.
Old batteries are believed to have caused five fires since the beginning of the year.
Johnson County is encouraging residents to drop their used batteries off at one of several recycling centers in the county.

- Ace Hardware East (1558 Mall Drive, Iowa City)
- Ace Hardware North (600 N Dodge St., Iowa City)
- City Hall Cashier Counter (410 E Washington St., Iowa City)
- North Liberty Community Center (520 W Cherry St., North Liberty)
- Coralville Recreation Center (1506 8th St., Coralville)
- Hazardous Material Collection Facility at the Iowa City Landfill (3900 Hebl Ave. SW, Iowa City)
They also have a recycling program for electronics containing batteries.
