(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A man is under police custody in a Cedar Rapids hospital this morning after an 11-hour standoff in a downtown apartment building.

Police tell Iowa's News Now they were trying to serve an outstanding arrest warrant out of Polk County around 8:00 p.m. last night when the suspect fired at them.

Police say officers returned fire and the suspect barricaded himself in an apartment until just before 6:00 a.m. this morning.

Two CRPD officers are now on critical incident leave.
