(Des Moines, IA) -- County auditors in Iowa would have the power to cancel non-citizen voter registrations under new legislation being proposed by the Iowa Secretary of State.
The law would also require the Iowa Department of Transportation to share non-citizen information.
The proposal comes after 250 non-citizen registrations were found on the voter rolls for November's election.
The Secretary of State's office is also seeking access to a federal list of immigration statuses to verify voter registrations and is pushing for more consistent election recount procedures and increased cybersecurity oversight.
