Colin Gray, the father of alleged Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, pleaded not guilty on Thursday (November 21) to multiple charges related to the mass shooting at Apalachee High School in September that left two students and two teachers dead. The plea was entered on his behalf by his attorneys, who waived a formal arraignment. Gray was not present for the hearing.
The shooting took place on September 4 and claimed the lives of two students, Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn, both 14, and two teachers, Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53. Nine other people were injured in the incident.
A Barrow County grand jury indicted Colin Gray in October on 29 counts, including second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless conduct. It was the first time in the state's history that a parent of a school shooter has been charged in connection with the crime.
The indictment alleges that Gray gave his son access to a firearm and ammunition after law enforcement officials interviewed them in 2023 over reports of online threats to carry out a school shooting.
The younger Gray, who was charged as an adult, was indicted separately on 55 counts, including four counts of malice murder and four counts of felony murder. He pleaded not guilty in October.
