(Mahaska County, IA) -- A four year old is dead by gunfire in Mahaska County. The Sheriff's Office says they responded to a call about a gunshot victim in a rural portion of the area Wednesday, and when they arrived found the child with the gunshot wound. Police say lifesaving efforts were performed, but those were unsuccessful. Preliminary investigations say the gun was fired by accident.
