(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A social justice group is calling for a boycott of Hy-Vee stores after the grocer announced it would be closing their First Avenue store in the Wellington Heights neighborhood of Cedar Rapids next month.

Angel Ramirez, President of Advocates for Social Justice tells Iowa's News Now that people should spend their money with companies that prioritize their workers and their communities. She says the group is working with the city to find a replacement grocery store operator for the area.

Hy-Vee will close three eastern Iowa stores June 23rd in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Davenport.
