(Iowa City, IA) -- Iowa City City Council got their first look at designs for a new City Park Pool last night. Four designs were presented to council, each capable of holding nearly a thousand people, and all based on feedback from residents.

Iowa City Parks And Recreation Director Juli Seydell Johnson tells Iowa's News Now that regardless of the design chosen, the new pool will be a huge plus for the community.

The cost of the new pool is estimated at 18-million dollars.

It's scheduled to open in May 2026.
