(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Things got testy in Linn County Court yesterday as prosecutors cross-examined Shane Teslik during his voluntary manslaughter trial.

Lawyers for the state challenged Teslik about his reasoning for using a racial slur towards Devonna Walker, the woman he's accused of fatally stabbing. Teslik double-down on his claim that he thought the n-word would make Walker go away.

The defense rested its case yesterday, and opening arguments are expected to be heard today.

Teslik faces 10 years in prison if convicted on the voluntary manslaughter charge.
