Illinois Mom Who Hid Son In Trash Can Wants To Change Plea

(Rock Island, IL) -- A Quad Cities mother who pleaded guilty to hiding her son's body in a trash can for seven months has filed to change her guilty plea.

Thirty-eight year-old Sushi Staples of Rock Island, says she's learned her lesson and shouldn't be in jail. She was sentenced to two years in prison last month.

She pleaded guilty to hiding the body of her 10 year-old son in the family garage after her he accidently fatally shot himself in December 2022.

A hearing on her request will be held April 23rd.
