(Webster County, IA) -- An inmate being taken from Iowa Jail to another this (Friday) afternoon, briefly escaped custody. The Webster County Sheriff's Office says inmate Jesse Carlson, who was in handcuffs and leg irons, briefly escaped in Humboldt. Deputies found him within minutes hiding inside a vehicle. He' was taken into custody without incident and returned to the Webster County Jail. He's now facing an escape charge, on top of his original charges.
The Sheriff's Office says a Webster County Deputy was transporting three inmates to the Humboldt County Jail today due to overcrowding, when Carlson ran away.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the Humboldt Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol. Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener says the brief escape did not put residents of Humboldt in any danger.
