Cedar Rapids Asking Residents For Input On New Project

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The city of Cedar Rapids is looking for advice on the LightLine Loop design in the Czech Village.

According to a news release, the project is the implementation of key pieces of the Czech Village/New Bohemia Area Action Plan.

It's focusing on reimagining the space as a vibrant community gathering place for both residents and visitors.

The project will be located on 16th Avenue to 21st Avenue.

Tuesday was the first of a three day workshop in the WFLA Hruska Hall at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library.

The workshop is intended to talk with residents about the design concept for the project.

Those include: a round house, shared-space streets, a pedestrian promenade and gateway signage.

Wednesday and Thursday's workshops will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2025 and should be completed by fall of 2026.
