(Iowa) -- The state of Iowa will receive millions of federal dollars to help connect people in two counties to high-speed internet.

The state will receive $5 million dollars after the Biden Administration announced it's sending half a billion dollars to 20 states to increase access to high-speed internet, especially in rural areas. In Iowa, those funds will be used in Allamakee and Winneshiek Counties in northwest Iowa to expand high-speed internet access to people, businesses, and farms.

The federal funding was approved under the bipartisan infrastructure law passed by Congress and signed by President Biden earlier this year.
