(Undated) -- Iowa's annual sales tax holiday is August 6-7. John Fuller of the Iowa Department of Revenue says in general, clothes and shoes that are priced under $100 are exempt from the state sales tax (6%) and local option tax (1%). There are some exceptions, including athletic equipment and school supplies such as back-packs and other supplies.
