(Iowa) -- Evictions are on hold across the country for the next 60 days in counties with high COVID-19 transmission, including over 75% of Iowa counties.

During that time, Iowans struggling to catch up on rent and utilities have financial assistance available.

The Iowa Finance Authority's Iowa Rent and Utility Assistance Program covers all of Iowa's counties except for Polk County. Residents outside Polk County can find the qualification requirements and apply for the program here.

Polk County residents can apply for rent, utility, and other assistance through the local IMPACT Community Action Agency.

The Centers for Disease Control announced the 60-day extension of the eviction ban on Tuesday.
