(Des Moines, IA) -- The sky is hazy today (Sunday) in Iowa, due to smoke from wildfires in Canada. Conditions have prompted an Air Quality Alert for all Iowa until 12 p.m. Monday, August 2nd.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires that entered Iowa Thursday afternoon continues to impact the state, especially in northwest Iowa counties.

Fine particulate matter levels are over EPA Health Standards and it's recommended those in sensitive groups should take precautions.

Those include the elderly, those with respiratory or heart disease, and children. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommends individuals in these sensitive groups limit prolonged outdoor exertion until air quality conditions improve.
