Mt. Mercy University President Suddenly Resigns

Mount Mercy University President Robert Beatty is resigning. Beatty just started his tenure at the school two months ago and fall classes just started this week.

Dr. Tim Laurent has been named interim president. He has served as Mount Mercy’s provost and vice president for academic affairs since 2018.

“I am honored to continue serving Mount Mercy and our mission of providing a student-focused education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy,” Laurent says. “I look forward to continuing the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy in meeting the needs of our time.”

Mount Mercy hasn't given a reason for Beatty's sudden departure.
