MARION CITY FACILITIES REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH MAY 15

In accordance with Monday’s updated guidance from the State of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Public Health, City facilities in Marion will remain closed to the public through May 15. Most offices are expected to re-open on Monday, May 18, however this date may be adjusted as needed. 

Emergency services continue to be provided. Despite the closure of facilities, City staff continue to work on-site and remotely to serve the community. Residents and businesses may conduct City business online, by phone or via email. Closed facilities include:

·Marion City Hall (1225 6th Ave.)

·Marion Public Library (1095 6th Ave.)

·Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center (4500 N. 10th St.)

·Thomas Park Administrative & Operations Facility (343 Marion Blvd.)

·Marion Public Services Facility (195 35th St.)

·Marion Fire Station No. 2 (3933 Katz Dr.)

·Marion Police Headquarters (6315 Hwy. 151)

Transit:

The City of Marion contracts with Cedar Rapids Transit to provide public transportation. Cedar Rapids Transit service has been suspended through May 15, 2020. Neighborhood Transportation Service (NTS) at Horizons will continue to provide day-time rides to work for those with critical employment transportation needs such as work at hospitals, grocery stores, care facilities, and convenience stores/gas stations. To schedule a ride, call 319-363-1321 at least 24 hours in advance. For more information about NTS services, schedules and regulations visit www.horizonsfamily.org.

Curbside Garbage/Recycling Collection:

The Public Services Department continues to allow Marion residents to place an additional bag or container of garbage at the curb without an extra bag tag. This service has been extended through May 15.
