Amana Whirlpool Employee Tests Positive For Corona

(Amana, IA) -- The Whirlpool plant in Amana is shut down after an employee tests positive for COVID-19 coronavirus. The company says the person hasn't been at the plant since March 17th and is currently in the hospital. The plant is currently undergoing deep cleaning.

CR Nursing Home Workers Diagnosed With Coronavirus

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Two nursing home workers in Cedar Rapids are diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus. They both worked at Heritage Specialty Care and started self-isolation when they felt symptoms. The workers hadn't been at the nursing home since last Wednesday and last Friday.

Marion Declares Coronavirus State Of Emergency

(Marion, IA) -- The City of Marion declares a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Mayor Nicolas AbouAssaly made the declaration Tuesday, allowing city resources to be used to fight the spread of the virus. AbouAssaly made a statement after the declaration, saying now's not the time to panic but to take the virus seriously.

IA National Guard On Assignment Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

(Undated) -- Iowa National Guard soldiers and airmen are getting special assignments in the wake of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. This week, soldiers delivered four semi-loads full of medical personal protective gear to five Iowa counties. There are currently 42-members of the Iowa National Guard and Iowa Air Guard on state active duty status because of the outbreak.

First Iowan Dies Of Coronavirus In Dubuque Co.

(Dubuque, IA) -- The first Iowan has died of COVID-19 coronavirus. The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Tuesday the person lived in Dubuque County and was between 61 and 80-years-old.

UnityPoint Opening New Respiratory Clinic

(Des Moines, IA) -- UnityPoint Central Iowa is opening a new respiratory clinic for adults who think they might have COVID-19 coronavirus or other respiratory illnesses. Patients are asked to call first or reserve a spot on unitypoint-dot-org. UnityPoint is also consolidating it's Des Moines area Urgent Care locations temporarily.

DM Farmers' Market Postponed

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Downtown Farmers' Market is postponing opening day because of COVID-19 coronavirus. Organizers announced on Facebook the start of the market will be postponed until local, state, and federal public health guidelines regarding large gatherings are lifted.

Winnebago Suspending Production

(Forest City, IA) -- Forest City-based Winnebago is suspending production thru April 12th. Polaris is closing plants in Spirit Lake as well as other plants in Minnesota. The companies blame slowing sales due to COVID-19 coronavirus.

Second Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In RI Co.

(Rock Island Co., IL) -- Another person is diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus in Rock Island County. The Rock Island County Health Department announced Tuesday the new case involves a man in his 70's. The first case in the county was announced on Monday.

250 More Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Illinois

(Undated) -- Another 250 COVID-19 coronavirus cases are confirmed in Illinois. The state coronavirus website says over 15-hundred people in Illinois now have the virus and 16 people have died from it. The state is currently under a stay-at-home order.

Iowa Public Schools Create Fund For Students

(Undated) -- Iowa's three public universities establish emergency funds for students affected by COVID-19 coronavirus. Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa launched the funds this week to help students adjusting to the change from on-campus to online learning. The schools are inviting alumni, fans, and friends interested in supporting students to donate.
