"Tax Free Weekend" starts today

Iowa's annual sales tax holiday starts Friday. The event is always held on the first Friday and Saturday of August.

During these days, shoppers don't have to pay the sales tax on certain clothing and shoes. That does not include items like jewelry, watches or athletic footwear.

The Iowa Department of Revenue says the exemption does not apply to items more than $100.
