The next time you head to a game or concert in eastern Iowa, it could be at the new Xtream Arena.
That will be the name of the new arena in Coralville, which had been called the Iowa Arena up to this point.
It will be home to local events, as well as University of Iowa volleyball games.
The arena's general manager said he also hopes to bring an ice hockey team to the arena.
Construction is going on at the Iowa River Landing area just off Interstate 80.
"You should see the physical structure start to rise up by the beginning of the summer, and then we should be looking for the enclosure to be done at some point in the fall,"
General Manager Brian Hixenbaugh said.The arena management says they're looking to bring in youth athletic tournaments, trade shows, and even concerts once construction is finished.
