Iowa House committee to reject 29 ballots

A SPECIAL COMMITTEE OF THE IOWA HOUSE TODAY'S EXPECTED TO VOTE NOT TO OPEN THE 29 ABSENTEE BALLOTS THAT DEMOCRAT KAYLA KOETHER SAYS WERE NEVER COUNTED LAST NOVEMBER. 

THE BALLOTS ARRIVED AT THE COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE AFTER THE ELECTION.  BUT KOETHER SAYS THEY SHOULD BE COUNTED.  TODAY, THE SPECIAL ELECTION COMMITTEE IS EXPECTED TO VOTE AGAINST COUNTING THEM, SAYING THERE'S NO POSTMARK OR PROOF THEY WERE SENT ON TIME.

IN THE VOTE CANVASS...KOETHER LOST TO REPUBLICAN MICHAEL BERGAN BY NINE VOTES.  HE'S ALREADY BEEN SEATED IN THE IOWA HOUSE.
