Iowa bill would allow guns in school parking lots

The Iowa Senate has given preliminary approval to a bill that would allow licensed gun owners to take a loaded gun onto a school parking lot or pick-up area.

Right now, carrying loaded weapons onto school grounds is illegal.

Supporters of the bill told the Des Moines Register just having a gun in a parking lot seems reasonable.

Opponents say if the bill became law, it would put children in danger.
