An important street and state highway in Iowa City will be partially closed for several months in mid-January, the city of Iowa City announced.
Governor Street, which carries a portion of Iowa Highway 1 northbound east of downtown Iowa City, will be closed between Iowa Avenue and Jefferson Street beginning on January 14 at 6:30 a.m. This will allow Iowa Department of Transportation crews to replace a bridge over Ralston Creek.
The work is expected to last until the end of June. Detours will be posted to reroute traffic around the construction.
