CRPD makes arrest in Wednesday shootings

THE CEDAR RAPIDS POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS MADE AN ARREST FOR A SHOOTING INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 1623 PARK TOWNE COURT NE.  

TWO VICTIMS WERE REPORTEDLY SHOT INCLUDING A 19-YEAR OLD FEMALE WHO SUSTAINED NON-LIFE THREATENING GUNSHOT WOUNDS AND A 27-YEAR OLD MALE WHO SUSTAINED MULTIPLE, LIFE-THREATENING GUNSHOT WOUNDS.

POLICE OFFICERS WERE NOTIFIED OF THE SHOOTING AT 2:59 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19TH.  THE FEMALE VICTIM WAS LOCATED AT 1640 MIAMI DRIVE NE AS SHE REPORTEDLY LEFT THE SCENE TO SEEK ASSISTANCE FOR HER INJURIES.

EZEKIEL CORTEZ PHILLIPS, JR., 30, OF CEDAR RAPIDS HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER (TWO COUNTS), WILLFUL INJURY, GOING ARMED WITH INTENT, AND CARRYING WEAPONS.

INVESTIGATORS DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A RANDOM INCIDENT.
